DO CBD PRODUCTS CONTAIN THC?
UNDERSTANDING CBD EXTRACT TYPES
If you are considering taking CBD, you might be wondering if it contains any THC? The short answer is, “sometimes, but only in very low amounts”, but it depends on the extract type. The hemp plant contains hundreds of different phytochemicals including cannabinoids, terpenes, and other compounds and there are three extract type; Full-Spectrum, Broad-Spectrum and Isolate. Continue reading for a breakdown of each type to help you determine which is best for you.
WHAT IS FULL-SPECTRUM CBD?
Full-spectrum CBD or hemp oil refers to products with CBD but also contains the other plant molecules, it means the presence of a full-plant extract. This version of CBD oil is minimally refined, leaving most cannabinoids and terpenes intact. Full-spectrum provides more of the plant’s molecules in ratios and amounts the way nature intended. ProMED CBD Full-spectrum products contain .3% THC or less, which is the federal legal limit. This low amount of THC will not produce a psychoactive effect, however, there is a chance the THC could show up in a drug screen.
Cannabinoids and terpenes work together to influence each other. The theory is that when using the whole hemp plant, the health benefits of the cannabinoids improves. This synergistic effect is called the Entourage effect. CBD has been observed to work alongside THC to reduce the effects of a “high” allowing it to influence your cannabinoid receptors. ProMED CBD Full-spectrum products include Oil Drops, Topical Creams, Gel Cap Supplements, and Oil Drops for Pets.
WHAT IS CBD ISOLATE?
CBD Isolate products are labeled as being 99% or more pure CBD depending on their type. As the name suggests, these products have been isolated down to just the CBD molecule. They have no other active ingredients (no THC) and only aim to deliver therapeutic doses of CBD, isolated from the other cannabinoids and terpenes. Isolate CBD products are a great alternative to those who want to try CBD but are concerned with passing a drug screen.
Isolate products often come as a white powder or a mixture with a carrier oil such as medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil for improved absorption. ProMED CBD Isolate contains 0% THC. ProMED CBD Isolate products Oil Drops, Topical Creams, Gel Cap Supplements, and Oil Drops for Pets.
FULL-SPECTRUM VS ISOLATE
Full-spectrum CBD oil products have the advantage of containing different cannabinoids and terpenes increasing the potential for a wider reach of health benefits.
CBD isolates allow users to more easily regulate and administer large dosages.
You may find the taste of hemp extract unpleasant, which means you should look at alternative ways of consumption. CBD Isolate or another product such as ProMED CBD Gel Capsules are an excellent choice. ProMED CBD Isolate powder can also be an option for making other kinds of products for personal use such as homemade massage oils, tinctures, or even foods. The lack of flavor might also make isolates a better choice for cooking or mixing into drinks. Please see our CBD Cooking Blog and get some amazing recipe ideas.
Isolates undergo more extensive refinement and require more plant matter to get higher concentrated levels of cannabidiol. Therefore, isolates are usually more expensive than full-spectrum CBD. Fortunately, ProMED CBD keeps Full-spectrum and Isolate product prices the same so you never have to worry about paying more!
WHAT IS BROAD-SPECTRUM CBD?
Broad-Spectrum CBD products have multiple cannabinoids and other compounds found in the hemp plant that have been shown to benefit your overall health, all without any detectable THC. Stay tuned for new Broad-Spectrum CBD products from ProMED CBD.
It is hard to decipher which type is best for you without trying both varieties and gauging your body’s reactions. If you are finding your condition is not reacting significantly to a full-spectrum oil, then trying an isolate may be the better option and vice versa. If you are concerned about an upcoming drug screen, you may want to chose Isolate products to start. ProMED CBD has both Full-spectrum and Isolate products because we want you to have the best of both worlds!
